Foundations in Civil Engineering and Government Works (1983-1986)

Bharat began his career in 1983 as a Civil Engineer in India, working as a General Contractor. His projects spanned across GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) and various Public Works Department initiatives. His early work laid the foundation for his skills in managing large-scale projects and building infrastructure.

Entering the Textile Industry

In 1986, Bharat entered the textile industry alongside his father-in-law, quickly making strides with 500 machines dedicated to Butta cutting. In 1991, he expanded the business by opening a dyeing and printing mill in Sachin, Surat, followed by the addition of embroidery services in 1992. His vision for growth culminated in 1996 with the establishment of another dyeing unit in Palsana, Surat, marking his leadership in textile manufacturing.

Moving to the United States

In 1999, Bharat migrated to the United States, seeking better educational opportunities and a brighter future for his children. He quickly found success by investing in Subway franchises and gas stations. His first major venture in the U.S. came in 2000 when he began constructing his first hotel—Sleep Inn & Suites in Portsmouth, Virginia—completed in 2001 through his company, LAP Group.

Founding Gujarat Polyfilms and Expanding into Nylon Manufacturing

Despite his growing interests in America, Bharat remained connected to India by founding Gujarat Polyfilms Private Limited in 2001, which specialized in manufacturing N6 Nylon Chips. Under his leadership, the company expanded its capacity to 60 tonnes per day, solidifying its position as a key player in the industry.

Hotels and Real Estate Development

By 2004, Bharat had established an office in Chesapeake, Virginia, marking the beginning of his deep involvement in real estate development and the hospitality industry. He expanded his portfolio with the ground-up construction of a Holiday Inn Express in 2005 and a Hampton Inn & Suites in 2006.

In 2007, Bharat's company developed the Hendewood Suites, followed by the Hilton Garden Hills in 2009. Alongside these projects, he successfully built hotels for other owners, proving his versatility and skill as a general contractor.

A Diversified Business Portfolio

Today, Bharat Tribhvohandas Patel’s business interests span across the hospitality, restaurant, and retail sectors, managing renowned hotel brands such as Hilton, Marriott, and Intercontinental across three states—Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.

His portfolio includes not just hotels but popular franchises such as Slim Chicken, Del Taco, Mahi's, and Subway restaurants. Alongside these ventures, Bharat has owned Taco Bells and various other successful eateries, showcasing his ability to thrive in multiple industries.
